Product review: Makeup removers

What is Micellar water?

Today I am reviewing two makeup removers that I have tried recently. Removing makeup at the end of the day is unbelievably easier said than done. Sometimes you think you've had it all removed and one swipe with a cotton pad and toner and off comes some more foundation! If you wear makeup on a daily basis this may worry you because your pores can get clogged leading to breakouts.

Where to buy Micellar Water in Nigeria

The Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water promises to remove makeup from the eyes, face and lips. It is also fragrance-free and suitable for sensitive skin. Despite the many praises I have heard for Micellar water, I did not get the best results from this product. It was able to get rid of makeup to a large extent but the product did not agree with my skin. I usually feel a slightly burning sensation on my skin after wiping it on my face with a cotton pad. It also never entirely gets off all my makeup even though the product is designed to use without rinsing afterwards. However, it's not an expensive product and worth trying. I purchased mine from Boots but I will update on a Nigerian shop where it is sold once I find out. I however will not be buying this product again but I will like to try another brand of Micellar water in the future.

Makeup wipes sold in Nigeria

I decided to try makeup wipes instead and purchased the Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes  for N750 from MedPlus pharmacy about a week ago. Each wipe largely takes off makeup but again this does not remove all of it. With both I'm always tempted to use more of the product which is really annoying. I also personally would still rinse afterwards except when I'm using this to correct makeup mistakes during application. At the end of the day however, I would wash my face afterwards. I recommend using a makeup remover specifically for the delicate eye area to avoid rubbing and re-rubbing using these products. I may buy this product again if I need a makeup remover and find it on the shelves but it's not a product I would actively seek or stock up on.

This was my personal experience but I would like to know your experiences with any of these products and also any recommendations for makeup removers you love. Please leave your comments below!
